a few items of business to take care of

Re: the title of this post--I've always found that to be an odd phrase. Is it unique to Mormon culture? To Utah congregations? It seems to be the standard way to begin the "announcements" portion of a sacrament meeting, but it doesn't make sense to me. Just how are we going to "take care of" these "items" after all? Is this a Good Samaritan thing--as if these "business" matters just need some love and attention, and then they'll be "taken care of" so we can go on with our meeting?

Anyway. That's neither here nor there. Said items:
  • Happy Pi day, everyone! For those of you in the area: Smith's (the grocery store) has all of their Marie Callender's frozen pies on sale--buy one, get one free! Scott and I are going to have some chocolate silk pie tonight. :-)
  • Quick plug for my practical blog: the newest post talks about some crazy statistics concerning English as a Second Language students. I am kind of afraid.
  • It's Friday! Woo hoo! I think Scott and I are going to make it a double-feature night at the dollar theater...we haven't seen this one, and we want to see this one again.
  • It's raining! (Not snowing!)
  • And, I finished my dang paper. I never want to hear about Thomas Traherne again.
