Evidence that I need to teach parts of speech

Sample sentences from a student's (7th grade) vocabulary practice:

"I was rideing my bike then I obliterated."

"The swine flu is rampant."

"Mr. Nix is vigor today."

"I went home and usurp."

"I'am allways salient."

"I am Amenities in my bed."

"Taylor Swift is gaunt."

"I have been treachery with japan."

"I am daunted of ghoust."

"Wraith are at the ghost yard."

Clearly my students understand two things: the swine flu and Taylor Swift.
